A Bit of "NEWS"

Hi!

This post comes after a long time but better late than never. Well this post is a short one. Just thought of blogging on the NEWS channels operating in India.

To start with I hardly find any channel worth watching for NEWS. I believe rather than getting the right news to the public they play the role of misguiding people or helping the guilty get away by their way of reporting. They will claim to be the only channel to broadcast the news or be the first one to report it. They will also focus on non important news like celebrity wedding throughout the day which I believe is the Shittiest news for the day. They will also show us how wrong, unethical or unlawful activities take place but will never claim to have tried to resolve them. Just today a news channel showed a tiger who lost its way, entered a village, climed a tree on being surrounded by men with sticks etc. All this captured and broadcasted live on national TV. Why could no one help the poor animal by calling some forest authorities or any animal rights activist to take care of the situation instead of running behind the poor animal who was scared out of its wits on seeing so many people. And this happens just days after the government comes out with the latest census numbers on tigers in India which is a dismal 1400 odd.

Its time the government takes notice of such things which can probably make a big difference in the lives of someone (may be an animal or a human) The kind of treatment metted out to the tiger was uncalled for. I understand it was a dangerous situation but the root cause is WE and OUR doings in the past. We need to take responsibility for what we have done in the past and try to maintain a balance in the eco system.

And I hope the channels realise that they have a responsibility towards the society in terms of the quality, conduct and content they broadcast apart from tring to claim to be the FIRST to bring breaking news.

SCG Test....Do we have the right attitude?

Hi.

We all know and have been witness to the so called historic 16th win for the Australian Cricket team who claim to have played the test in the spirit of the game. Well sadly, my views are not the same. From the time Symonds was given not out for being stumped by Dhoni the entire face of the match changed dramatically. The ball was always in the court of the Australians as they had the umpires bowling, batting and fielding for them. What on earth prompted umpire Mark Benson to ask the Australian captain Ricky Ponting if the catch was clearly taken by Micheal Clarke in the slips at a point where one wrong judgement could turn the match in favour of either of the team.

There were as many as 8 judgements which were wrongly adjudicated by the umpires in that HISTORIC test match out of which 7 were against the Indian interests. Is this expected from umpires officiating in an international match? To err is human we all know, but to repeat those mistakes is foolishness and thats what Steve Bucknor and Mark Benson have proved to be outright.

Symonds being given not out stumped by the keeper, Jaffer being bowled of a no-ball, Ganguly's dubious catch in the slips, Rahul Dravid's dismissal all contributed to India losing the match in the last 7 balls of the test match. And if anyone is to be blamed it has to be the umpires. I believe the BCCI was a bit too late to lodge a complaint against the umpires.

Harbhajan Singh was charged with racial abuse of a player on the field. Well let me first ask who gave Symonds the right to go and instigate the fight in the first place when virtually nothing much was happening between Brett Lee and Hrabhajan. Is he trying to say that Brett Lee cannot fend for himself in anyway? Why was Symonds not charged with any offenses? Why did the match referee hold Harbhajan Singh guilty when he himself admitted that there was no full proof evidence against the bowler? Is this not racism against the Indians? I would say a big "YES" and its not the first time that we are facing this issue. The Asian sub continental countries have always faced the wrath of the ICC match referees and other officials for various offenses like slow over rate, discipline issues etc while at the same time teams like England and Australia have been let off with warnings. Is it not time we get up and do something for our rights?

Surprisingly, India has now dropped the charges racial abuse against Australian bowler Brad Hogg. What is Mr Anil Kumble trying to say by this generous act? DO you lack self respect? If not for yourself, atleast they should have thought about Indians back home and in other parts of the world who face these situations many a times. What has India achieved by dropping the charges against Brad Hogg? Virtually nothing but just some b******t praise from all corners of the world who in their minds may well be laughing at the lack luster attitude of the Indian team.

I believe its time for the men in blues to just get back home and in their place send a team of eunuchs who atleast would not take any abuse at themselves like the way these guys have done. If Brad Hogg was really guilty of racial abuse, it was the teams duty to get him the suspended for the required number of tests. Surprisingly, the man who has withdrawn the charges against Hogg (Kumble) is supposed to be the onen whom he racially abused. Hail captain courageous.

Many would say I'm wrong to think the way I have expressed my thoughts but if you think so let me remind you that its the same forgiving attitude that has cost us many battles, unwanted incidents and not to forget our pessimist attitude on the field on most occasions. We still do not have a "Never say Die" attitude, we do not like to fight till the end and we do not let others fight for ourselves. No wonder its been 24 years and 7 world cups later we still have not won the World Champion's tag in the ODI format.

My Life....

I wonder if I can call myself a good human being. I'm no saintly figure neither do i boast of any great humanitarian acts. Then what could possibly be the reason for my existence. I've always been notorious since childhood and learned most of the lessons in life the hard way. I was blessed with the most loving and caring family that I could have asked for always there for me whenever I've needed them but I Still wonder if I've been doing justice to them or should i say " Do i really deserve this love and attention?" To think of it, let me admit I've never worked hard for academic scores. I was least bothered and I still believe I'm into the wrong course at the wrong time. I was not a bad student, but never took a liking to academics. Thank God, I'm blessed with some wrinkles in my brain that I can capture parts of whatever is taught. IF only I was more persistent and hardworking.....

Most of us dream to live a life of a Rockstar, Actor, Cricketer etc. I was no different, except that i woke up early from the dream. Though I had a brief stint as a sportsman playing Badminton and Cricket at various levels, it never catapulted me to reach higher levels and I remained one of the person in the crowd who disappear without anyone knowing their existence. Those days will be missed when we played for pride and honor be it at school, university, state or national level. If only I was inclined towards studies.....

I have always been blessed with good people for company right from my childhood. As a person I was extremely shy, timid and an easy target for the big boys in school but I was in the good books of the teachers though I'd not say the same for the grades i got(Laugh n Wink). My friends were a great bunch of guys and girls who shared their tiffin box if not anything else (LOL). Ok, I'm kidding. I have had a great group of friends right from my pre school days. Some of them having played a vital role in my development as an individual. We played together in school, because when they were studying, I was still playing on the field (LOL). Some of my friends will always be a part of me in some or the other way. I have to admit that we did have our up's and downs in the relationship, but what the heck you still need someone to fight with at the end of the day. They were with me till H.S.C
After which they went out of town for higher studies and I lost a year doing extra curricular activities. If only had i not lost that year......

After moving out of Ratnagiri, I believe that I've really changed a lot in terms of knowing myself. Though I would not say that I've transformed myself completely, I felt certain changes in my mindset, behaviour, likes and dislikes etc. Pune really made me feel at home right from the word go. I finished my graduation there and I've tried and experimented on different things which I could only dream of while in Ratnagiri. The city with its youthful appeal made me see a bright ray of hope in the worst situations. My friends in Pune have all been great buddies. We enjoyed a lot. Partying and fooling around till the wee hours of the morning. Those were the days that I really enjoyed. If only I could get those days back.....

Coming to Hyderabad was what was destined to happen. Not having prepared for the entrance test, giving a casual interview and getting an admit to the so called Top 10 B-School of India. Everything fell into place as if it was part of a well planned strategy. I did not enjoy the city life in Hyderabad. It was apparent after experiencing the Pune life style. However, in company of some really good friends, this was just a shortlived nightmare. I've met people from various backgrounds and made friends with a few. In fact I've met some people here who will be a part of my life from now on. They are such wonderful beings that its hard to believe that such people actually exist in the world. You may feel I'm exaggerating however its a fact. Not many people would even understand the kind of bond we share. Our group ( which has 2 girls and 4 boys ) is a total maverick. We enjoy trying out new restaurants in the city, watching movies and doing just about anything that can make us feel good in a city where you cant really "HANG OUT" till late night. My friends group here in IBS is an inexhaustive list. There are so many batchmates that I still dont recollect faces in the campus. Call it population explosion or population exploitation. (LOL) Well to talk something about the city I have to admit that I don't hate the it but there is nothing to be loved about it either. If only I could explore the city more.....

As i've mentioned earlier, I've always been blessed with some of the most amazing people in life as my family, friends etc. My friends help me stay afloat away from home, my family really close to my heart, my better half is a true inspiration, my sisters the most beautiful gift and my parents make me forget my sorrows and my cousins very affectionate. I've even had some of the most loving and loyal pets for company since childhood. Growing with them has taught me a lot about them and they are an integral part of our life forever. What more could I've asked for? I've learnt a lot in their presence and have grown with them. They were my guiding angels at some or the point in life. I do not want to take names here but they will always remain close to my heart. These people are from my family, my relatives, friends and well wishers. I dont want to miss out a single name here because I'd feel very bad if that happens so writing this for you all. If only....Nah...This time I'd not want to ask for anything more than what I've got. Thank you everyone for being there for me. Love you all.
